Chef André Nurse

is being flown in from Barbados to prepare the

Art of Becoming a Woman - A Rum Punch Brunch

Chef André Nurse, affectionately known as “Chef Dré”, is a Sous Chef at the acclaimed The Grille Restaurant and Careenage Bar at Hilton Barbados Resort.  He received his training at the Barbados Community College and the Culinary Institute of America (CIA). He was also privileged to benefit from training at the prestigious Verre by Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Dubai. 

 

Chef Dré is the youngest chef to have ever won the Barbados Chef of the Year, earning the title in 2009 on his first entry into the competition arena, National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) at the age of 24. This win afforded him the opportunity to realize one of his career goals – securing a place on the 2010 and 2012 award winning Barbados Culinary Team.  Since then, he has played a major role in the team’s win of five (5) Gold medals in 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, as well as the coveted title of Team of the Year in 2015 and 2017. He also gained Gold for best Seafood completion & Silver in the Chef of the Year segment of the competition at annual Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Taste of The Caribbean competition held in Miami, Florida.

 

He has had the honour of cooking for then U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministerial Meeting in June 2010 and of recent, for the CARICOM Heads of Government Meeting.
